Neal Stephenson came to prominence in 1992 with his novel Snow
Crash, a dazzling fusion of high-tech themes and Sumerian mythology. His
subsequent novels in the postcyberpunk genre include The Diamond Age; or
a Young Lady’s Illustrated Primer, Cryptonomicon and The Baroque
Cycle, a three-volume work consisting of Quicksilver, The Confusion
and the just-published The System of the World. Stephenson also writes
non-fiction articles about technology in publications such as Wired
magazine.
