*The programming details of this event have changed since the Festival Program was printed: Every author starts out as an unknown, but sometimes fame strikes like a hot iron, changing a quiet life into something the author never dreamed. Three authors, who have each sold millions of copies of their works, tell stories of their lives, both before and after fame and discuss how, or whether, success has changed them. In a little more than a decade, they have become household names not only in France and North America, but also around the world through translation. Is fame a burden to the creative process or does it allow them to pursue their own paths? When does “author” become a defining title? How much satisfaction comes from copies sold? With the wise and witty Vicki Gabereau as their host, Niffenegger, Reichs and Schmitt will tackle these questions and more. |
