Difficult not to over-dramatize or sentimentalize, death is a subject eschewed by many authors. While Lisa Moore’s novel deals with cauterizing grief to move on with life, Debra Adelaide and Bonnie Burnard look at preparing others so that their characters can accept death. In the hands of these three skillful authors, death, dying and life after death is fertile ground for exploring relationships, love, truth, acceptance and the necessity of embracing the one sure thing in life. |
