Lorrie Moore’s first collection of short stories, published when she was 26, heralded an original new voice in fiction, sparkling with wit and extraordinary depth of feeling. Moore has since published four collections of stories and three novels, most recently A Gate at the Stairs. Her work regularly appears in The New Yorker; she has won three O. Henry awards and received six Best American Short Story awards; and one of her stories appeared in Best American Short Stories of the Century, edited by John Updike.
