Olive Senior is a fiction writer, poet, journalist and editor. Her short story collection Summer Lightning won the inaugural Commonwealth Writers’ Prize for best book in 1987, and her poetry collection Over the Roofs of the World was a finalist for the 2005 Governor General’s Award for poetry. Born in Jamaica, she has lived in Portugal, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom; she now spends her time in Jamaica and Toronto. Dancing Lessons is her latest novel.
