2009 VIWF Writing Contest Winners Announced
(January 15, 2010) - The winners of the 11th Annual Vancouver International Writers Festival Poetry and Short Story Contest have been announced. The first prize winner in the short story category goes to Victoria resident Margaret Gracie for Verglas. The second prize winner is Jan Redford from North Vancouver for Grant's Lunch.
First place winner in the poetry category goes to Richmond resident Wenda Nairn for her poem the third one. Second place goes to Stacey Cormier of Vancouver for lineage.
Winners receive a cash prize ($350 for first prize in each category, $250 for second prize) and first place winning pieces will be published in subTerrain magazine. All winners will be published on the Writers Festival website (www.writersfest.bc.ca). Contest judges were authors June Hutton, Evelyn Lau, and Matt Rader and subTerrain Managing Editor Pat Mackenzie. The contest was sponsored by Book Warehouse.
