Spreading the Word Accolades

"All our students this year enjoyed the festival and, as a teacher, I found the session we attended very positive and worthwhile as we felt the impact of the authors' interpersonal skills, their ability to relate to our youth, and the fact that all was done in a French immersion situation. Thank you for giving us this rare opportunity to experience French in a different setting other than in a classroom. The students who lived this experience then realized that, indeed, in some places, we speak only French!"

"Well, I can tell you for 100% certainty that the experience at General Brock was definitely a valuable and rewarding one! The kids were super eager, wonderfully attentive and very willing to participate (my presentations are very interactive).
The teacher was very excited with the presentation and is eager to implement the new knowledge into her classroom activities. Both the teacher and the principal seemed so genuinely appreciative of the outreach program and the opportunity to have me in their classroom.
Overall, the experience was a really powerful one -for both myself and the students. My presentation went partway into recess and at the end, very few of the kids actually wanted to leave for recess. Many spent time in the class with me -asking more questions, giving me pictures they had made...and giving me hugs! I am really impressed with the outreach program and certainly hope I have the opportunity to participate in it again!"

"While reading, Mme Bérubé elaborated on words unfamiliar to the students and brought color to the French language. After the reading, she listened to questions the students had about the making of her book.
Mme Bérubé encouraged writing as she herself did at an early age. She conveyed writing as a creative expression of one's thought that does not need to be a task. We are to write to her individually. The letters are to convey our personal feelings about one of the characters, what illustration most captured our imagination and what we learned about this story.
As you can see, Mme Bérubé's coming to visit us steered quite a few doors to literacy amongst my students."

"Both Spreading the Word videos were excellent. More please! The children in this small community have very few opportunities to view the outside world. This has been a great window!"
